Interview with Photographer Les Abeyta

Today we are going to meet photographer Les Abeyta aged 45 from California. That’s him pictured below with his family when on vacation in Italy last year.

Les, could you tell us a little about who you are & what you do?

I have been in the timeshare industry for over 20 years and am currently the Vice President of Corporate Marketing for Pacific Monarch Resorts. In my work, I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel accross the world and introduce my family to new destinations. In those travels, I have discovered how much I love to capture a split second in time.

Where do you sell your work?
I have images for sale on Istockphoto, Getty Images, Deviant Art, a local store called Leaping Lotus, Etsy, and my own website.

What are your goals for the future?

Most importantly, planning on the next vacation to take more amazing captures… Right now, my plans are to travel to Spain and Portugal in the spring. I am also focusing on distributing my image (print and electronic).

What’s your favorite piece of work that you have created?

My favorite? Wow… That’s like trying to pick your favorite child… However, these are some images that I have an emotional connection to:

Andrea - Rain Fair Ride at Night Firnze Rain - Florence Rainy Street water color

What are you doing when you’re not creating?
When I am not creating, I am spending as much time as I can with my wife, kids and friends. We are a close knit bunch so we are always on the go, experiencing new things.

What else should we know about you and your work?
I am a spontaneous photographer . . . Although I have done model shoots, I prefer winging it and capturing what’s in front of me now. I also have lots to learn and enjoy learning from others.

Do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?
Shoot what you love but challenge yourself. Taking part in photo groups, such as Flickr’s Daily Challenge or Project 365 will help drive more thought provoking shots. And keep learning.

Thanks for letting us get to know you Les! As a fellow photographer who plans on travelling more this year I found your work to be very inspiring – I’m adding Italy to my list of “Must Do Destinations”!

Les has canvas prints with travel scenes from Italy, the US, Mexico, the Netherlands and more available to buy at his Etsy shop, as well as a few unusual pieces such as the street graffiti piece, pictured above!

Sit back and enjoy the photography by this very talented man, Steve Berlin at Redbubble. What can I say other than “wow”?!

It’s this kind of photography ( the breath taking, simply stunning ones) that inspire, make me want to see every corner of the world and also to improve my photography.  In the meantime i’ll just look… and look some more! :)

Darren Stones Photography

Another Australian photographer, Darren Stones who’s work caught my eye over on redbubble.

Darren is a freelance journalist, an award-winning photographer, a photojournalist and writer. Find out more about his photography over at his blog.

Let’s take a look at some of his stunning scenic work -

Breathtaking isnt it? Take a browse through his redbubble gallery for 18 pages of stunning photography :) As for me… you guessed it, I will be adding Oz to my list of places I have to visit!

Mark Tisdale Photography

Today’s featured photographer is Mark Tisdale who’s work is available to buy as prints and cards at Redbubble.

Mark says “I’m a native of rural Middle Georgia and currently living there again after 10 years in the Metro Atlanta area. I don’t remember the first time I held a camera, but it was only recently that I became truly enamored with this art. That passion to go further developed on the heels of my first international travel in 2004.”

John De Bord Photography

I was browsing around on stumbleupon when I came across the amazing, breathtaking photography by John De Bord at Redbubble. I can’t believe I never came across his work whilst browsing on RB before! His photos are really something special… they make me catch my breath. But anyway, rather than me tell you how “wow” they are take a look for your self… See if you can feel the magic.
